Increased Timing Accuracy
Maximum performance starts with accurate spark timing. Only when you know that the spark will occur at exactly the right time, every time, can ignition advance be safely dialed in to the limit. Electromotive's ignitions use a sixty tooth, crankshaft mounted trigger wheel to measure engine speed and position. There is no spark scatter caused by mechanical distributors. Updating engine position every six degrees allows unparalleled timing accuracy - only Electromotive can guarantee ±1/4° timing accuracy to over 12,000 rpm.
Complete Advance Control
What good is a hot spark if it doesn't happen when you need it? Stock advance curves are compromises for production engines. All Electromotive products put you in control. With both our manually controlled HPV-1 to our PC programmable HPV-3B ignitions you choose what timing specs are right for you.
Spark Timing Adjustments
The four adjustment knobs on the HPV-1 allow full control over ignition timing and rev control. The HPV-'s linear advance curve is shown below.
The HPV-3B provides the flexibility offered by laptop programming. User-friendly, menu driven software allows the uswer to define a three dimensional advance table based on RPM and manifold pressure. This gives you instant vacuum advance and boost retard adjustments. Also included are coolant advance, knock control and dual rev limiters. The Engine Monitor Screen (below) shows, in real-time, exactly what you engine is doing! Spark advance can be changed on-the-fly from your keyboard.
The HPV-3B requires calibration software. Each user must license the software. Each license includes the software, communications cable and the instruction manual.
More Spark Energy
Using multiple coils controlled by patented digital circuitry, all of Electromotive's ignitions creat unmatched spark energy and duration. Spark energy is a function of the time available to charge the ignition coils. With more coils, Electromotive ignitions always have more time to charge and discharge each coil - four times more on a V-8! Coild are fully charged up to 9,600 rpm using a 12 volt battery, and even higher with 16 volt racing batteries.
Duration of the spark is also critical to complete combustion of the intake charge. Multiple coils allow more time to charge and discharge each coil. At any rpm, Electromotive ignitions supply up to 60° of spark duration. This is 3 times what others can do!
Direct Spark Delivery
All Electromotive products use only Direct Ignition. The spark goes straight from the coil to the spark plug - there is no cap and rotor. All the energy goes straight to your spark plugs, ensuring maximum performance and reliability.
