Toyota 7MGT Upgrades
In
our opinion the Toyota 7MGT engine is the absolute best
powerplant available. You can make huge amounts of HP reliably if not cheaply.
Low 12. s and high11. s from a early body style Supra is very common
and not very hard to do. The down side to this engine is there is very little
bolt on equipment that makes much difference. You need to jump right in and do
the big stuff. Sure, you can do and air filter, exhaust, EVC, Etc. but the real
power comes from serious Turbo and fuel system upgrades. Along with these mods
the internal engine pieces must also be upgraded to withstand the extra heat
and stress.
Our standard street buildup is about 500 HP on pump
gas and 600+ on race fuel. Internal
Engine work is fairly straightforward and all pieces are readily available. The
Turbo and fuel system is a bit more complex. The stock management system even
with an AIC cannot support much more than
425
-450hp because of the Air flow meter restriction. We use aftermarket Speed
Density Metering management such as the Electromotive TEC-II, the HALTECH F9A,
or the HALTECH E6
The stock ignition system and timing curve is also
very good for most street applications once you have control of the fuel and
eliminate the air flow meter. To keep the stock ignition and eliminate the fuel
only you would use the HALTECH F9A system.

Bosch Racing Fuel Pump

This is a great way to do it if you want to keep the
car running just like stock except when you are at high boost levels and really
need the fuel. Will also pass Smog inspection. Controller is adjustable for
injection starting point and
duration.
Stage-3
Fuel system upgrades:
Programmable management system
upgrades for all out 500+ HP systems.
These systems
require using a laptop computer to set the fuel and/or ignition curves.
Both systems are complete with software, sensors, tuning manual and baseline
programs. This is for those of you that want to get the most out of your 7MGT
and retain good driveability. There are 2 methods. The first is to scrap the
fuel and ignition system completely and use a stand alone computer to control
all aspects of the engines operation( TEC-II or HALTECH E6 ). The second is to
retain the stock Ignition system and curve and just control the fuel (HALTECH
F9A). Both have their merits. It really depends on the gas you will be running
and your how much control you want. A very heavily modified street engine
running pump gas will really require the ignition control of a complete stand
alone system to keep detonation under control under high boost low octane
situations.
